summer

since i've been on a "blogging hiatus" (a.k.a. too lazy to blog) i thought i'd catch you up on our summer so far...using pictures. so here it goes. *keep in mind that my captions come before the picture...i know i'm backwards, it's just the way my brain works*

june:

we visted jake's parents around fathers day & his brother & his family were able to join us as well for the day. the kids had a blast playing together:

after watching fireworks we recreated a family photo that we took 3 years earlier when moses was just 5 days old...three years makes a big difference!:

ahhh the heat. summer finally arrived sometime after the 4th of july:

a friend gave us tickets for creation so i braved it one night to take the boys to see david crowder (if you were to zoom in between my forehead & the guy with the hat on head you could see david crowder):

solly had swimming lessons and did GREAT! this is one of my favorite pictures...the elementary back stroke:

the street fair was a big deal this year...so we checked it out for a bit and mojo got to go on his 1st roller coaster ride with his "brudder" (isn't solly the best big brother?!):

then we took a trip to the oregon coast with jakes parents. it was a 1st for both of my boys:

the 1st thing moses said when he laid eyes on the beach was "SANDBOX!!!":

i did some research online one night at the hotel and found out there was a cool ship wreck close by. it was one of my favorite parts of the trip:

august:

jakes mom took a week off to spend time with the boys. so i took them up to see her and stayed a few nights and then left solly there for the rest of the week. but, before i left...we hit the beach!

so that is (just part of) our summer...so far. now that i'm caught up i'll try to stay on top of this crazy blog. one of these days i'll take a picture of my camera and write all about it...cause i think everyone would be much more impressed with my pictures if you knew what i was working with.

ah yes, and this is my favorite non-person picture of the summer:

whidbey...again.

as i mentioned before the boys and i went to whidbey island for 4 days. we had tons of fun. on the first day i was there for about an hour before i jumped back on a ferry (alone) and when to have a "girl date" with kaydee!! that's right i enjoyed a movie, cinnabon & window shopping for HOURS with NO KIDS!! it was like being on another planet. we even ran into a tv commercial "celebrity" that's right an old navy "supermodelquin"

yes, we realize what dorks we are...but we were having SO MUCH FUN!

one of the days we were there we went the "the park"...i'm sure it has a name but we've just always called it "the park" it's pretty great.

and, of course, we went to the beach...it did not go over as well as we may have liked. solomon threw a fit and we we're outta there pretty fast. but the did have a tiny bit of fun before we took off.

here we are almost a week later and i am finally going to tell (and show) you about our trip to republic to stay at curlew lake's fisherman's cove resort (the word "resort" is used very loosely) it is about a 6 hour drive from our house but with 2 little kids it took us more like 8 hours. only because we met up with jakes parents in leavenworth. first we hung out at a fruit stand/petting zoo place for about an hour and then we went out to lunch before hitting the road.

so nice to be out of the car!!

so as the trip continued on we were really hoping to get a long nap out of moses...

...we got a nap out of him, but it only lasted about 45 minuets

and then finally we arrived in republic!!!

it was a really boring weekend. but that just what we were hoping for. it took jake a day to figure out how to just sit and enjoy himself. and now that we're home all he wants to do is go fishing. soon jake, soon.
it was nice to have a lot of family time. but it's even nicer to be home.

oh and of course we managed to spend a whole 4 days together without getting a single picture of the 4 of us together...some day.

portland, home, yak & back

so we made it home from portland after a nice breakfast with old friends we were off to see our boys!!!! we met up with jakes parents, solly and mojo at cabelas and it was WONDERFUL to see them again. we dilly dallied for a long time and had a late lunch and finally got home at 4 or 5. i hurry and unpacked and did laundry so it wouldn't sit around for weeks. i was ready to go to bed by 8pm!! (of course i didn't get to go to bed until like 10:30)
then this morning i got up at 7am and got the boys up and we headed over the mountains to get our rosey!!! we picked her up and after 3 flipping stops (solly chugged a whole bottle of water and had to go twice!!) we made it home in time for a nap (thanks goodness!!!) we're are sooooo glad to have rose here again. it always feel like someones missing when shes not here :(
soooo after nap time we went to target to get out of the house...it was fuuunnn!! i could live at target :)

day 2 on the alien planet

who would have ever thought it would be so hard for me to be away from my boys for 2 nights...not me! but, boy it has been. i find myself looking at other peoples kids or saying things like "solly would love this". i miss my boys and i can't wait to see them tomorrow morning.
i did have fun today despite missing my boys. we took a drive up the gorge and took in some beautiful sites we went to a museum and just took things nice a slow. it was fun & relaxing. we went for the "safe" choice for lunch (no more pubs for us) and had olive garden, i was full before i even got my food. but it was sooooo good.
then we went to our friends wedding. and i must say, it was a really great wedding. they did things different but not weird just their way and it was fun. we got to see a few people that we haven't seen in over 6 years. and we enjoyed some good wedding pie (that's right! pie...no cake).
and now we're just trying to figure out what to do with ourselves for our last few hours alone. i'm thinking some tv and then a good nights sleep. sweet, sweet sleep....

oh yes, remember what i said about jake and the hair dryer...turns out he was drying the steam off the mirror for me!! isn't he just the best!?!?
